The Karakhuin-Khan is a pudgy middle-aged Mongol of about 50 years. He is clearly well off - his traditional garb is completed with several items of brocade, the wickedly expensive cloth that symbolizes the wealth of the Silk Road like no other - bringing together Chinese silk, Xi Xian gold and the outstanding art of weaving from Persia.
He has a certain resemblance to a pig, with widened nostrils, small beady eyes, chubby cheeks and a pot belly.
His attitude is jovial and relaxed, more like a friendly uncle than like a haughty ruler.
